Sedona is beautiful, but touristy and overpriced. Stay in nearby Flagstaff or Prescott and drive to the places you want to see. North of Flagstaff is Sunset Crater Park, and north of the park is a collection of stunning Native-American ruins surprisingly untravelled by tourists. Be sure to climb up into a ruin called "The Citadel", you'll never forget the experience.
